To let your teenage children drive their own car is hard for some people, it is not just because teenagers do not have enough experience in driving a car but also they are so irresponsible and tend to drive car fast. As good parents you do not want something bad happens to your teenager children while they are driving the car right? So you have to tell them and teach them how to behave or how the good driving is. But like what is people say “better safe than sorry”, to teach or even just tell your teenage children how to drive safely at the road is not enough, you have to have extra protection to your car and to your children by using the insurance. Nowadays you can have insurance for almost all belongings you have include your “intangible assets” like health or income, but in this case the most important type of insurance is car insurances. To have the insurance for the car driven by teenager is not that easy, most of the car insurance company will charge higher car insurance rates for teenagers, this is due to the risk that they will face is bigger than the other of drivers.
Although the car insurance rates for teenagers is higher, normally higher than the other type of drivers like older drivers, there are still some way to reduce the rate or premium so that you as the parents do not have o pay premium that is too high. The first and the most important thing is the choice of the car. Teenagers, especially boys surely want like sport cars for their first car, but if you are smart parents, do not give them that kind of car. It is because, sport car runs fast and the insurance premium will be higher with sport car. Car insurance company will give rates or premium depends on the horse power of the car. The higher the horse power, the higher the rate.
Of course this is not the only consideration in giving the amount of insurance premium, there are still some other factors like the age of the car that you are going to buy for your children. Older cars are slower and heavier, this will also makes the car insurance rates for teenagers lower. The other factor that affects the insurance premium rate for teenage driver’s car is to choose car that does not have high rate of theft.
